Art Statement:

My work explores the awareness of self in relation to the environment and objects. Where did I come from? Why am I here? Through found photographs of indigenous peoples of the Philippines and Southeast Asia, my paintings conveys a close and far view of portraits and objects, often merging into a space between worlds. My creative process is a careful study of time and memory to share a narrative for viewers to reflect on or add meaning to. I work both in oil on canvas and mixed media on canvas (oil, oil pastel, acrylic, spray, and household paint). Also, I'm exploring digital video and electronic music as new media. I am influenced by art history, anthropology, and pop culture.
